Is Your Vinaigrette Too Ordinary? 6 Easy Ways To Turn Up The Taste

So you guessed maple syrup? Oui! You guessed right.  This sweet and whole food natural liquid shouldn’t just be used on your pancakes or waffles.  Maple syrup is a delicious and unique addition to your healthy 3 to 1 vinaigrette.  The delicate balance between the acidic vinegar and the sweet maple syrup makes your salads taste over the top.  Every time this secret surprise is splashed in the salad bowl my kids rave and guests ask for the recipe.  “It is easy,” I tell them.  “Just a splash of maple syrup right before mixing your vinaigrette.”  You can use your own vinaigrette recipe and add a splash.  Or check out the article written here recently on making your 3 to 1 healthy vinaigrette.

 



Don’t have any maple syrup handy?  Why not super splash some runny honey on your next green salad?

We also love the taste of honey on our big green salads.  The best is to use a good honey, straight from the bees.  A real honey that hasn’t been industrialized or over processed.  But it must be runny honey so that it can mix well in the vinaigrette. Ideally use a honey that has a twist of added flavor, like lavender.  Here is an example of a type of honey we use:

If you don’t like your green salads with that sweet touch, here are our other super splashes that we love to use. Caution:  only add one type of splash each vinaigrette. Over doing it makes the flavors overwhelm the palate.  Try one of these from the list.  They are guaranteed to add that interesting taste to your next vinaigrette:

Worcestershire Sauce

Lemon Juice

Tamari or Soy Sauce

Grainy Mustard

    Love this site. Very informative and creative.
    I just started adding anchovy paste to my vinagrette last week, with a squeeze of lemon juice. It added an earthy dimension that was very penetrating with each bite. I will be using this ingredient much more in the future.
